Southern Balloon Works has dozens of heavy-lift Nylon blimps operating in Iraq, Afghanistan, Germany and many locations in the USA.  Our Heavy Lift Nylon Blimps or Payload Blimps are designed to be durable and easy to handle. We have 5 models of heavy lift blimps: 20 foot, 26 foot, 30 foot, 35 foot and 40 foot with approximate lift capabilities of 18 pounds, 30 pounds, 48 pounds, 80 pounds and 136 pounds respectively. We can manufacture the heavy lift blimps with custom attachment points designed to meet your payload specifications. We also have different tail materials and designs depending on your requirements. So how do you decide which payload blimp will work for you? Just tell us your payload weight and gust load (wind amount) and we'll help you figure out the details to design the blimp properly.

Construction of the payload blimps is with a polyurethane bladder on the inside and a ripstop nylon skin on the outside. This 2-layer construction allows for durability. UV protection and ease of repair. Some companies use urethane-coated Nylon which cannot be repaired in the field. The Southern Balloon works design is similar to the construction of the MetLife blimp.  Should the polyurethane bladder tear, it can easily be replaced without harming your investment in the nylon skin.
